Phishing is the practice of sending fraudulent communications that appear to come from a legitimate and reputable source, usually through email and text messaging. The attacker aims to steal money, gain access to sensitive data and login information, or install malware on the victim’s device.

Phishing emails can be tricky because they look like they come from contacts or friends. It is important to know what an email is potentially asking for or asking you to do, even if it appears to be coming from a trusted source. If you receive an email that is out of the ordinary, ask questions of the alleged sender before opening the attachment or responding with sensitive information.

Call the sender and ask questions before opening attachments or responding with sensitive information. As always, be wise with your personal information. If you are unsure, ask questions.
