President’s Message – Nov/Dec

Reflecting back over this past year, it’s hard to believe that my year as president of our association is coming to a close!

On January 9th, 2020 as I was being installed as the GCAR President I had great visions as to what 2020 would be like for the association and the real estate industry in general. Little did I, or anyone, know that in three short months the world was going to come to a standstill and a pandemic would take hold of our personal lives and our economy which would greatly effect how we would conduct business in the future. As we began to open back up, we had to adjust to a totally new way of doing business.

Zoom classes, virtual meetings, face masks, virtual showings, and limited interaction with buyers and sellers became the new norm. The membership and association accepted this new challenge and in spite of all the new regulations began to flourish. In the midst of the pandemic we watched median home sale prices soar and inventory shrink.

On a brighter note, renovations are currently underway on our new office space and training center. We hope to be in the new facilities by early 2021.

The holiday season is now upon us and I’m sure our celebrations will be a bit different this year from years past. Many events have been canceled and families will be holding smaller gatherings. I hope everyone can safely enjoy some time with family and friends this holiday season.

I want to take a moment to thank our staff, fellow board of directors, and all the members who have assisted the association by becoming involved and serving on committees. With your help, the association continues to be successful.

In closing, I want to wish the incoming leadership team much success in 2021. It is my hope that we can begin to return to in-person training, meetings, and hold our special events.

Thank you for the privilege of being the 2020 GCAR president. I wish everyone a happy holiday season and a healthy and prosperous New Year.
