GCAR is Expanding!

We have some exciting news to share with our members. GCAR has closed on the purchase of 449 New Karner Road and following some renovations, expect to move into the spaces by the end of the first quarter of 2021. This new addition will allow GCAR to expand its services and better assist you, the members. Once the work has been completed, the staff will be moving into the new office space, and our current office spaces will be converted into a larger training center and much needed additional meeting rooms. This new space will enable GCAR to host more, larger educational and membership events. I would like to thank the building committee and the board of directors for all their hard work and dedication throughout this journey. Stay tuned for additional updates.

Our housing market has been extremely strong this year. Prices were on the rise and numerous sales involved multiple offers. Some properties were less than 1 day on the market with many sales completed without buyers even entering the listing.  Still, there was a great deal of in-person buyer activity – ShowingTime reports indicate more than 25,000 showings took place in August.

As we move into the early fall, New York States COVID-19 cases are remaining fairly level and, thankfully, people have been able to get back to work. I would like to remind everyone that just because our COVID levels are low, we can’t become complacent.  We still need to follow the state and CDC guidelines, which still includes following proper PPE requirements and practicing social distancing. While the masks are uncomfortable, it would be even more uncomfortable to be closed down again for lack of compliance. As we’ve all seen in recent weeks, the governor has shut down industries that are not observing the required guidelines. No one wants to be the broker or agent that caused our industry to shut down.

Remember to social distance, stay healthy and safe!
