“Jack’s Place” Gets a Helping Hand from GCAR Community Relations Committee Members
GCAR’s Community Relations Committee members were proud to cook up an Italian feast for “Jack’s Place” residents in Schenectady, New York, on April 25. Many thanks to Community Relations committee members: Ginny O’Brien, Karen Cahill, Dominic Indelicato, Diane Sluus (2023 Community Relations Chair), Jonie Civill, Brenda Larkin, and Judy Kaiser for donating the ingredients and preparing the meal of lasagna and stuffed shells. A tossed salad and cake completed the meal!
About Jack’s Place: Jack Falvo III was beginning his life’s journey when he died in the summer of 2005 at 21. Inspired by Jack’s love of family and zest for life, his family established The Jack Falvo III Foundation and opened Jack’s Place in his honor.
The spacious and beautifully renovated home welcomes out-of-town families supporting their loved ones at the nearby Ellis Medicine and Sunnyview Rehabilitation Hospital. Each of the eight bedrooms has a queen bed, tv, and private bathroom. Guests also enjoy a large living room, dining area, kitchen, family room, and laundry.
Jack’s Place is sustained through annual fundraising events, in-kind donations, grants, and the generosity of individuals and local organizations donating supplies, cooking, baking, and performing in-house and grounds-work tasks.
Monetary donations can be made online at JacksPlace.org or by mailing a check to the Jack Falvo III Foundation, 17 Rosa Road, Schenectady, NY 12308
